Facebook Threatens to Sue Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook has threatened to sue Mark Zuckerberg, an Israeli entrepreneur who recently took the social network founder’s name. The new Zuckerberg, born Rotem Guez, legally changed his name Dec. 7.
Zuckerberg II’s website, MarkZuckerbergOfficial.com, states that he first filed a lawsuit against Facebook in January, after the social network refused to give him access to his profile, which it had shut down.
Zuckerberg (all further mentions refer to the Israeli entrepreneur) co-founded Like Store, a social marketing company, which sells companies Likes for their brand pages. The site states (translated), “Are you sad no one’s visiting your Facebook Page? We have a solution! Need 1,000 Likes? We’ll get them for you. Need 5,000 Likes? We’ll get them for you. Need 10,000 Likes? We’ll get them for you.”

In September, Facebook’s law firm Perkins Coie threatened to sue against Zuckerberg, claiming the Like Store violated the social network’s Terms of Service, by selling brands fans. The threat instructed Zuckerberg to shut his company and never return to the social network for any reason.
Zuckerberg officially changed his name Dec. 7. In the below video of his trip to the Interior Ministry to make the switch official, he says he plans to change his family’s names as well. One week later, Facebook again threatened a lawsuit against Zuckerberg’s still existing Like Store. Little did they know, they were threatening someone with the name of their own founder.
Though legally Facebook can, of course, sue someone named Mark Zuckerberg, it makes for quite the funny tale.

Perhaps anticipating the media attention he would receive, Zuckerberg has set up an Internet campaign for his new persona, including a Facebook Page and Twitter account, @iMarkZuckerberg, suggesting that he’s ready to make a splash with his new identity. His Facebook Page includes photos of his new identification card and passport.

How to Increase Your Blog Comments

By increasing the number of comments on your blog, more viewers will take notice on how well you are engaging with your audience. Here are five tips on how you can increase your blog comments. Please leave a comment below if you have any other suggestions, or share what techniques worked for you to get more people to leave comments.

Tip #1: Make sure it’s easy for the reader to comment

I’ve come across a few blogs that had some amazing content, but it was set up in a way where I found it difficult to leave a comment. Some blogs required me to go through a lengthy registration process before I was able to leave a comment. If it’s technically difficult to leave a comment, I end up leaving the page. Sometimes I can’t find the section where I can leave comments, so I’m not sure if the blogger purposely turned off the comments feature or forgot to enable it.

Make sure it is easy for your reader to leave a comment. Have you turned on the comments feature? People who are new to blogging often forget this. Is the comment section large enough for the reader to find it? Do you require only minimum information from the viewer before they can comment, such as their name and e-mail address? Or do you require more information than that? If you’re concerned with spam, you could use plugins such as Akismet to filter out any spam.

Tip #2: Ask Questions

While it may seem very obvious, remind your readers that you want their comments and opinions by asking them a question at the end of the blog post. Ask them directly to share their response in the comment section.

You could ask them questions like “What did you think of the post?” or mention a direct call to action like “Let me hear your thoughts by writing in the comments below” or something along those lines. The more specific the request is that’s based on the post, the more likely the reader is to leave a comment. So encourage your reader to take action by leaving a comment and participating in the conversation.

Tip #3: Respond to people who comment

Responding to people who take the time to write a comment shows that you are paying attention to them, and it creates an opportunity to further engage with that reader. People don’t want to feel like they’re ignored. When other readers see that you’re proactively interacting with the people commenting on your blog, they will feel more encouraged to join the conversation by posting their own comments.

Tip #4: Comment on other blogs

Take the time to read other blogs that are related to your niche. This will give you a better understanding of what’s going on in your niche, and better enable you to provide more value to your audience. If you happen to read an amazing article or blog post, leave a quality comment with your thoughts, and if the blogger allows it, indicate a link back to your blog. Other people who read that blog will take notice of your comment, and be encouraged to check out your own blog and post their own comments.

Tip #5: Invite a bit of controversy

If someone indicates that they don’t agree with your viewpoints, be professional about it and engage in a way that’s not rude or condescending to that person. When other people see a bit of controversy, they may want to put in their two cents worth if there’s some kind of debate going on in the comments. Make sure not to let the comments get out of hand, and don’t ever put down someone who disagrees with you. Otherwise, they may never come back to your blog again.

Apple founder Steve Jobs died yesterday after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

Tributes, led by President Barack Obama, began pouring in within minutes of the company confirming the death of the mastermind behind the iPhone, iPad and the iPod at the age of 56.

'We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today,' read a statement by Apple's board of directors.

The homepage of Apple's website switched to a full-page image of Jobs with the text, 'Steve Jobs 1955-2011.'

Clicking on the image revealed the additional text: 'Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being.

'Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor.

'Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.'

Jobs leaves a wife, a son and two daughters.

His relatives also released a statement, which said he 'died peacefully today, surrounded by his family.

'In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family. We are thankful to the many people who have shared their wishes and prayers during the last year of Steve's illness.'

From its earliest beginnings as a personal computer also-ran in a scrappy garage in northern California to its all-conquering development of life-changing gadgets the rise of Apple has been intrinsically linked to its quirky CEO.

When he left for eleven years after a row over the company’s direction, Apple’s fortunes dipped.

His return, after a successful stint as head of animation innovators Pixar, marked the start of the company’s relentless drive to become one of America’s biggest and most successful companies.

His death comes just six weeks after his poor health led him to stand down as the company's CEO and his successor, Tim Cook, presented the new generation iPhone yesterday.

The fact that Apple stayed cool as it grew is credited to Jobs’ innovative marketing techniques almost as much as his visionary wizardry.

Even when he announced that he was taking two years off on medical leave, Jobs still kept hold of his CEO title, just as he did on two previous occasions in the past seven years when he needed to take leave from the day-to-day running of the company for health reasons.

At the time, the billionaire could barely walk and photographs of him looking gaunt and frail led to reports that he just had weeks to live.

But he fought back and appeared to be relishing proving the doubters wrong by introducing the second-generation iPad and meeting up with President Obama to discuss the future of the tech industry.

Other than his well-rehearsed stage appearances to launch the latest Apple innovation, Jobs always treasured his privacy.

He survived surgery to remove a cancerous pancreatic tumour in 2004 and a liver transplant in 2009.

As CEO he earned only $1 a year, but he held 5,426 million Apple shares as well as 138 million shares in Disney.

His wealth is estimated at more than $5billion.

With his trademark jeans and casual jumper, he became synonymous with the company’s every innovation in recent years, from the iPod through to the iPhone and iPad.

Born in San Francisco, Mr Jobs, who was adopted, dropped out of university after one term and only took his first computer job to raise money to go on a spiritual retreat to India.

He returned a Buddhist with his head shaved and admitted experimenting with LSD, calling his drug-induced experiences 'one of the two or three most important things' he had done in his life.

Back in northern California, he started working for computer firm Atari before founding Apple in his garage in 1976 with friends Steve Wozniak, Ronald Wayne and Mike Makkula.

After a power struggle in 1985, he left the company, only to return eleven years later to launch the company’s extraordinary growth over the past fourteen years.

One of the world's most famous CEOs, Jobs remained stubbornly private about his personal life, refusing interviews and shielding his wife and their children from public view.

Even when he resigned six weeks ago, he divulged very little, not directly mentioning his cancer as the reason he quit.

'I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know,' Jobs wrote in his letter of resignation.

'Unfortunately, that day has come.'

'He's never been a media person,' said industry analyst Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies, after Jobs resigned. 'He's granted interviews in the context of product launches, when it benefits Apple, but you never see him talk about himself.'

But that personal life - he was given up at birth for adoption, had an illegitimate child, was romantically linked with movie stars - was full of intrigue for his fan base and Apple consumers.

Jobs and his wife, Laurene Powell, were married in a small ceremony in Yosemite National Park in 1991, lived in Woodside, California, and had three children: Reed Paul, Erin Sienna and Eve.

He admitted that when he was 23, he had a child out of wedlock with his high school girlfriend, Chris Ann Brennan. Their daughter, Lisa Brennan Jobs, was born in 1978.

Meanwhile, for all he accomplished in his life, there was one thing that eluded him – a relationship with his biological father.

Jobs was adopted after being born to Abdulfattah John Jandali, a Syrian man, and graduate student Joanne Schieble.

The couple were not married at the time and keeping him would have been deemed shameful by their communities.

In August, Mr Jandali, a casino boss, said he wanted to meet his son but was too proud to make the first move – in case Steve thought he was after money.

‘I live in hope that before it is too late he will reach out to me,’ Mr Jandali told the Sun. ‘Even to have just one coffee with him just once would make me a very happy man.

‘This might sound strange, but I am not prepared, even if either of us was on our deathbed, to pick up the phone to call him.'

This evening, thousands of tributes were paid within minutes of his death being confirmed.

THE FATHER HE NEVER KNEW

For all Steve Jobs accomplished in his life, there was one thing that eluded him – a relationship with his biological father.
Jobs was adopted after being born to Abdulfattah John Jandali, a Syrian man, and graduate student Joanne Schieble.
The couple were not married at the time and keeping him would have been deemed shameful by their communities.
Brought up by Paul and Clara Jobs, Steve is thought never to have made contact with his biological father.
In August, Mr Jandali, a casino boss, said he wanted to meet his son but was too proud to make the first move – in case Steve thought he was after money.
‘I live in hope that before it is too late he will reach out to me,’ Mr Jandali told the Sun. ‘Even to have just one coffee with him just once would make me a very happy man.

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates also spoke of the 'profound impact' Jobs had on the world.

‘I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death,' he said.

'Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.

'The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honour. I will miss Steve immensely.’

Google Chief Executive Larry Page posted on his Google+ account: 'He always seemed to be able to say in very few words what you actually should have been thinking before you thought it. His focus on the user experience above all else has always been an inspiration to me.'

Though often brusque, Jobs inspired near messianic devotion from his employees and millions of customers.

In addition to creating sleek computers, he helped transform the music and publishing industries by creating portable and user friendly products like the iPod, iPhone and the iPad.

Jobs also helped refashion a tiny graphics company into Pixar, the creator of such animated smashes as Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

After Disney acquired Pixar in 2006, he became the media giant's largest shareholder.

In a statement, Bob Iger, chief executive of Walt Disney, described Steve Jobs as a person whose 'legacy will extend far beyond the products he created or the businesses he built, it will be the millions of people he inspired, the lives he changed, and the culture he defined.'

Mr Iger added: 'Steve was such an original, with a thoroughly creative, imaginative mind that defined an era. Despite all he accomplished, it feels like he was just getting started.'

California Governor Jerry Brown added: ‘Steve Jobs was a great California innovator who demonstrated what a totally independent and creative mind can accomplish.

Well-wishers flocked to Apple's New York store on 5th Avenue to discuss their thoughts on his passing and post tributes on walls.

People left flowers outside the store and lit candles, while staff huddled together to discuss the tragic news.

Fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to Steve Jobs' in their masses. Within minutes of the announcement by Apple, RIP Steve Jobs was trending.

Soon after iHeaven, iClouds, iSad and ThankYouSteve also began repeatedly to be tweeted.

He will be remembered as the man who put the world into the palm of your hand.
Without Steve Jobs, there wouldn't be an iPhone, an iPad or an iPod - and we may not even know we needed them.
The visionary Apple founder helped usher in a new era of personal computer. In 1984, the Macintosh made computing simpler with a little invention called the mouse and an elegantly innovative operating system.
But that was just for starters. The hippie geek went on to revolutionize the way we live our lives.
He was not a software programmer or a hardware technician. He had a unique ability to know what we want before we realised what it was. With his ingenuity and imagination, the creative genius behind Apple was being compared tonight to Thomas Edison in respect to the immense impact he had around the world.
Who would think a computer company would change the way we listened to music or made phone calls to one another?
As much as his early achievements with the Macintosh II played a key role in the march of the PC, it was his second go round at Apple that cemented his legacy.
He once famously said he wanted to 'make a dent in the universe' and the way he went about it was to ensure Apple made 'the whole widget' - both hardware and software. The company introduced colour monitors long before any of its rivals.

After falling out with Apple, he was ousted at the age of 30, but he returned in 1996 and became CEO the following year. Once back in control, he set about transforming the consumer electronics industry.
Jobs foresaw that the Mac could become the hub at the centre of a digital lifestyle.
With the music industry in chaos with shared music causing online anarchy, Jobs took advantage by creating the iPod, a pocket-sized computer that carried an entire music library. Then came the iTunes store, allowing customers to buy individual songs at just 99 cents a time.
In 2007, he did the same to the mobile phone business, transforming the iPhone into an iconic touchscreen mini-computer that worked as a music player, GPS, camera, paid for Starbucks and did just about everything that was asked of it...including being a cell phone. The App store, allowing users to buy their own applications online, was introduced shortly afterwards.
Three years later came the iPad, the sleek personal tablet computer that combined the ease of use of an Apple computer with the convenience and accessibility of the iPhone.
With each new product, Jobs was the frontman, introducing his latest invention to a public hungry to snap up his latest innovation.
Sadly, he was missing when his successor Tim Cook, showed off the new iPhone yesterday. Now Apple is on its own.

Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, and the visionary responsible for world-changing products such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad and an extensive line of Mac computers, died Wednesday (Oct 5) at the age of 56 years old following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

“Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives,” Apple said in a statement. “The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”

Jobs had been battling a rare form of slow growing pancreatic cancer for years, and even took a medical leave from Apple back in January so that he could focus on his health.

But when things didn’t get better for Jobs, he stepped down as Apple’s CEO in August because he could “no longer meet (his) duties and expectations.”

After dropping out out of Reed College in Oregon after one semester, Jobs took some time out to find himself by designing video games for Atari, backpacking across India and working for Hewlett Packard.

It was at HP where he befriended a guy named Steve Wozniak, who would later go on to co-found Apple with him in 1976 when Jobs was just 21 years old.

Apple was the first company to develop what is known today as the “personal computer,” and Jobs was among the first engineers to recognize that using a GUI (graphical user interface) with a mouse would be appealing to users, who could now operate computers by clicking on images instead of writing text/code.

Apple’s first marketable computer was launched in early 1984 during the Super Bowl and 2 years later, after numerous fights and a power struggle with chairmen and board members, Steve Jobs was fired from the company he started.

After getting fired from Apple, Steve founded NeXT Computer, whose pricey computers never caught on with consumers.

He later bought Pixar Animation Studios before the company made it boy with “Toy Story,” and Jobs helped the company grow into what it is today.

In 1996, Apple, a struggling company at the time, bought NeXT and along with that purchase came, of course, Steve jobs, who was welcomed back to the computer company with open arms as CEO. 5 years later, in 2001, Jobs introduced the original iPod, which has gone on to transform portable music and kick-started Apple’s big comeback.

Over the next decade, Apple began to introduce a number of ground-breaking products, like iTunes (2003), the iPhone (2007), the App Store (2008) and the iPad (2010).

By the late 2000s, Apple was considered a top tier American business, and today, the company operates more than 300 retail stores in 11 countries, and has sold more than 275 million iPods, 100 million iPhones and 25 million iPads worldwide.

This past summer, it was reported that Apple had more money than the U.S. Treasure and the company even briefly surpassed Exxon Mobil as the most valuable company in the world.

But Jobs’ ongoing health problems sometimes cast a dark shadow over the success of his company.

In 2004, Jobs announced to Apple employees that he was being treated for pancreatic cancer. Over time, he lost weight and sparked concern amongst Apple fans with his unhealthy appearance.

During a 6-month medical leave of absence from Apple in 2009, Jobs had a secret liver transplant in Tennessee to help combat the cancer that had spread to other parts of his body.

In January of 2011, he took another medical leave of absence and helped put together his first authorized biography, scheduled to be published this November.

In August 2011, Jobs announced that he would be stepping down from his position as Apple’s chief executive officer, sparking more concern amongst Apple fans, who feared the worst.

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Jobs died surrounded by his close family and friends Wednesday, October 5th 2011.

A message posted to Apple.com paying tribute to Jobs’ legacy reads:

Have you heard of the new Google Body Browser? Well, the Google labs has just launched a body browsing Web page that will allow its users to look up at an organ and find it in the human body. Google seems to be coming out with a lot of new applications lately and seems very serious in trying out something new.

Basically, the Google Body Browser is a very interesting WebGL supported application that allows its users to explore the human body just like how the Google Earth is exploring the world. Well, at first it seems to be a little impossible to have such an application that can do such thing, but this thing is really for real although it cannot be denied that it works a little bit difficult.

The Google Body Browser actually allows its users to search the human body in three different dimensions. It uses WebGL, a 3D graphics API that runs within the said browser. However, you need to install a beta version of the Google Chrome browser first in order to try it out. After successfully installing it, you need to restart your browser and then you can already try the Body Browser and see how it works.

The Body Browser features a detailed 3D model of the human body that you can zoom in and navigate those body parts that interest you. In this browser, you can simply click a body part in order to know its anatomy or search for muscles, organs, bones and more. This browser would be a useful tool especially for those people in the medical fields, students and researchers out there.

However, this Body Browser is a little bit limited. There is no way to switch from the default female body model and there is also no way to find additional video and other information about the human body as well. Although it is also a bit surprising that this browser doesn’t need a plug-in in order to work.

In spite of the issues raised about this new browser, the fact still remains that this is such a helpful application that will help many in understanding the human body. Google may just need to do a little more improvement and tweak some of its own technology in order to make the Google Body Browser better. So let us wait and see if Google will come out with a better version of this browser in the future.

Sega Corporation makes a grand comeback into the world of video game hardware manufacturing with their Toylets, a new gaming platform with a whole new paradigm of user/game interaction. A pressure sensor is applied to a strategically-positioned location inside the porcelain hull of a public urinal, and the pressure exerted by a stream of urine aimed at the sensor serves as controls for minigames on a display embedded in the wall above the urinal. So far, there are four games:

Manneken Pis, in which the pressure of the stream is directly translated to how much liquid was urinated.
Graffiti Eraser, where graffiti on a wall is removed with a hose. The stronger the pressure of your urine, the faster the wall becomes pristine.
The North Wind and Her, in which a horny north wind tries to blow a dress off a girl. The stronger the pressure of your urine, the harder it blows.
Milk from Nose, a faux-sumo game in which two characters blow milk out of their noses to push the other out of the ring. The stronger pressure between you and the person that used that urinal before you wins. Yes, it’s a multiplayer game – albeit non-realtime.

The over-urinal screens can also display advertisements post-game, serving as a digital signage platform.

The urinals are still in development; Sega doesn’t even have a press package for distribution yet. I suppose we all just have to wait with bated ~~urine~~ breath.

01. Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit

The Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, better known as the Stealth Bomber, can launch conventional and nuclear weapons against the most heavily protected enemy lines on earth thanks to its ability to evade radar detection. Originally, it was supposed to be manufactured in a run of 132, but it was so expensive that the initial 1987 order was slashed to 21. The cost of the B-2 program in 1997 was $737 million, or just over $1 billion today. Combined with procurement costs, the B-2 Spirit costs over $2 billion. The craft was first used during the Kosovo War in 1999, and it has been used successfully in Iraq and Afghanistan as well. They have also been used during the 2011 Libyan uprising, according to the BBC.No other country on earth has a larger defense budget than the United States. According to the Department of Defense, its base budget for fiscal year 2010 is over $500 billion, with another $130 billion to bolster the War on Terrorism and another $33 billion in supplemental spending on top of that. And that’s not to mention Homeland Security or nuclear arsenal maintenance.A lot of this money is spent on aircraft, tanks and ships, all of which are top – of – line and represent the furthest advances in military technology. In other words, they cost a lot of money.

02. Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey

The Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey is a versatile aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities similar to those of a helicopter. However, it’s much faster than any existing chopper and it can fly at speeds as high as those of conventional turboprop airplanes. It was first used for combat in 2007 in Iraq, and the Marine Corps intends to use them in Afghanistan by late 2011. Unfortunately, the Osprey was plagued by a series of accidents during its design and testing phase between 1991 and 2000, and during that period the aircraft was involved in multiple accidents that caused thirty fatalities. Since 2008, the Osprey program has cost $27 billion, and as of 2010, each unit has cost $67 million.

03. USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77)

Named for World War II veteran and former President of the United States, George H. W. Bush, the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) is the final Nimitz supercarrier to be produced for the US Navy. It was commissioned in 2001 and built by Northrop Grumman for a cost of $6.2 billion.

The carrier was completed in 2009, and is docked in Virginia. At almost 1,100 feet in length, it’s one of the longest warships in the world. Its top speed is over 30 knots, which it reaches with the help of two onboard nuclear reactors. This power source is capable of keeping the ship running for more than twenty years without once having to refuel.

04. Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II

The F-35 Lightning II was developed as part of a joint program between the US, the UK and other allies known as the Joint Strike Fighter program. It was developed for use in air, ground and reconnaissance missions, it has a wingspan of 35 feet and a length of over 51 feet. Its internal fuel capacity is over 18,000 pounds and it can reach speeds of 1,200 miles per hour.

The F-35 Lightning II is armed with a 4-barreled Gatling cannon and eight types of missiles, and if all else fails, it also has a B61 nuclear bomb. The cost for one aircraft is $122 million. The US plans to purchase over 2,000 units, at a cost of $323 billion. When this deal was cut in 2001, it made Lockheed Martin the recipient of the largest military contract in history.

05. McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet

The F/A-18 Hornet was introduced by McDonnell Douglas and is manufactured by Boeing, who acquired the company in 1997. After making it maiden voyage in 1978, it was introduced in 1983 and since then, it has been used in a variety of capacities. It was used in Operation Desert Storm, and it’s the featured aircraft of the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron. However, its primary functions are reconnaissance and air support.

The Hornet can reach a maximum speed of 1190 miles per hour, and it can climb up to 50,000 feet in a minute. Outside of the US, the fighter is used by the armed forces of such countries as Australia, Canada and Switzerland, and it has appeared in the 1996 science fiction film Independence Day as the aircraft used to defeat the alien menace. A 2006 report by the US Navy estimated that the cost of one unit is $57 million.

06. Boeing EA-18G Growler

The Boeing EA-18G Growler is a carrier-based fighter used for electronic warfare. It can disrupt radar and jam an enemy communication system with electromagnetic radiation and directed-energy weapons. Because of its use as an electronic warfare fighter, it carries no guns, although it carries missiles for self-defense.

The Growler is a modified version of the F/A-18F Super Hornet, and it’s relatively new; it went into production in 2007 and only began operating in September 2009. The aircraft has a wingspan of over 44 feet and a length of over 60 feet. According to the US Navy, it costs $67 million to manufacture a single unit.

07. Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle

The Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle had its fifteen minutes of fame when 2008 presidential candidate John McCain cited the amphibious assault vehicle as the basis for a costly program that was wasting billions of taxpayer dollars. Developed for the US Marine Corps, it is deployed at sea and transports a full marine rifle squad to shore, then operates on land with the full capabilities of a tank.

The Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle is manufactured by General Dynamics, and the cost for each unit is over $22 million. To date, the program, which is expected to be complete in 2015, has a project cost of $15 billion, $3 billion of which has already been spent. The Bowles-Simpson Commission has recommended that the program be cancelled, and Secretary of Defense Gates said in January 2011 that he believes the program should end.

08. Grumman E-2D Advanced Hawkeye

The E-2 Hawkeye is an airborne early warning aircraft that dates back to the 1960s. It has been upgraded to the E-2B and E-2C models when advances were made to its radar and communications capabilities, but the most recent model, the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, is the most sophisticated yet. It features a new radar system that triples the craft’s ability to monitor territory.

The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, which took its first flight in 2007, costs $232 million to produce. It features a brand new avionics suite, complete with satellite communications capability, and the capability for midair refueling. According to Northrup Grumman, the aircraft began delivery to the US Navy in 2010.

09. Boeing C-17 Globemaster III

The C17A Globemaster III is a military transport aircraft in operation since 1993. The plane, which can drop over 100 paratroopers into a war zone at one time, has been used to move troops into Iraq and Afghanistan, and has also been used to deliver humanitarian aid and perform medical evacuations.

The price for one unit is $191 million. McDonnell Douglas developed it during the 1980s for strategic and tactical airlift, and it’s used by the militaries of the U . K . and Canada, as well as by NATO. Both the United Arab Emirates and India are planning to use the aircraft as well.

10. Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor

According to its manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, the F-22 Raptor is the best combat aircraft on earth. While this might seem tantamount to saying your son is brilliant, one look at the aircraft’s capabilities actually bears out the manufacturer’s statement. The high price inspired the Defense Department to call for the program’s end in 2009. The Senate voted to end it in July of that year, and when the military policy bill was signed into law three months later, funding for further production of the F-22 had been cut.
